Zhiqiang Niu is a Professor at College of Chemistry,
Nankai University. He received his PhD degree from
Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Sishen Xie. After his postdoctoral research in School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore, co-supervisor : Prof. Xiaodong Chen), he started his independent research career as Hundred Young Academic Leaders of Nankai University since 2014. He has been granted National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars (2018) and the Tianjin Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2018). He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal papers and 3 book chapters. His research interests include nanocarbon materials & advanced energy storage devices.

Our current research interests focus on advanced energy storage devices from electrode materials to device configurations. The fabrication of electrode materials is mainly centered on the assembling technologies of macroscopic nanostructured electrodes with different dimensions based on nanotubes, graphene, and their composites. The configurational design of advanced energy storage devices (e.g. zinc-ion batteries, supercapacitors and lithium-sulfur) mainly include: high-capacity soft-package, flexible and smart structures.
